Sandy Adams Calls for More Choice in Health Care

Rep. Sandy Adams of Oviedo, the Republican candidate taking on U.S. Rep. Suzanne Kosmas, came out swinging on Wednesday against new federal health-care laws backed by President Barack Obama.

The tax-and-spend liberal policies of Washington, D.C. insiders must stop and be replaced by spending less, not taxing more, wrote Adams in an e-mail to supporters.Real health-care reform should actually lower costs and increase choices, not mandate coverage, increase taxes, and cut Medicare benefits.

Haridopolos Says He Has Corrected Financial Disclosure Mistakes

According to a statement released by Sen. Mike Haridopolos, R-Merritt Island, simple oversights in filling out the financial disclosure paperwork are to blame for the mistakes cited in a report released Wednesday by the Florida Ethics Commission. Haridopolos says he has corrected the mistakes.

Connie Mack Links Hugo Chavez to Iran

With Hugo Chavez continuing his world tour, Republican U.S. Rep. Connie Mack continued to fire away at the Venezuelan leader. On Wednesday, Mack, the ranking Republican on the House Subcomittee on the Western Hemisphere, warned that Chavez had close ties to Iran.

The Campaign for Working Families PAC (CWF), led by former Republican presidential candidate Gary Bauer, placed former House Speaker Dan Webster in its Candidate Spotlight on Wednesday. Webster is the Republican candidate challenging Democratic U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson.

Daniel Webster is running in Floridas 8th Congressional District, taking on liberal loudmouth Alan Grayson, wrote the CWF staff on their website. You may recall that Grayson made headlines during the health care debate for saying that Republicans wantsick people to die quickly.

Republican candidate Marco Rubio, the front-runner in the U.S. Senate race, launched his third television ad in Spanish.

Rubio ignores his opponents in the new ad, offering something close to a valedictory address as the election comes to a close.

Desperate Charlie Crist Attacks Marco Rubio, Sarah Palin and Tea Parties in New TV Ad

Trailing in most polls by double digits, Gov. Charlie Crist, who is running for the U.S. Senate with no party affiliation, launched a last-minute attack against Republican front-runner Marco Rubio. In his new ad, Crist, who left the Republican Party after blowing a huge lead in the polls to Rubio before the Republican primary, insists he is the only candidate in the race who can win who will stand up to extremism -- a term he uses to describe Sarah Palin, Rubio and the tea party movement.

Pam Bondi Talks Up School Choice

Republican attorney general candidate Pam Bondi touched base on school choice on Wednesday.

"I come from a long line of public school educators, including both of my parents and my sister, and I care deeply about the direction in which our education system is going," said Bondi. "Keeping our kids in school and giving them the best education possible will not only create an educated work force, bringing and keeping businesses and jobs in our state, but most importantly is an essential component of keeping our children out of gangs, off drugs and away from other crimes.

Mitt Romney Goes to Bat for Steve Southerland

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, who placed second in the 2008 Republican presidential primary in Florida and is almost certain to run for the presidency again in 2012, went to bat for 10 Republican congressional candidates across the nation on Wednesday -- including Steve Southerland in North Florida who is challenging Democratic U.S. Rep. Allen Boyd.

Romney is calling for his backers to do all they can for Southerland and the other candidates he endorsed.

Ethics Commission to Investigate Haridopolos Over Financial Disclosure

Florida Senate President-designate Mike Haridopolos, R-Merritt Island, may have failed to fully disclose his financial interests from 2004 to 2008, according to a report from the Florida Commission on Ethics.

"The Commission found probable cause to believe that Mike Haridopolos, member of the Florida Senate, failed to fully disclose his financial interests for the years 2004-2008," the report says.

The report could ruin any hopes Haridopolos had of starting in his new role with a clean slate.

Rick Scott Releases New Ad on Sink Cheating, Lying

The Rick Scott for Governor campaign may have gotten the political bombshell it needed to push ahead in a tight race with Alex Sink.

Sink was caught breaking the rules during the final gubernatorial debate Monday night. The next day she told national news media on live TV that she didn't know who the message was from, but it was later discovered she was told it was from a staffer.

Now the Scott campaign has ads pointing out the hypocrisy of his Democratic opponent, using her own ads against her.
