Incoming, Outgoing Officials Announced at Swearing In Ceremony
Gov. Charlie Crist and Lt. Gov. Jeff Kottkamp will witness the transition of power from their administration to Gov.-elect Rick Scott's administration. They have been announced at the swearing-in ceremony in Tallahassee Tuesday, as have Scott, Lt. Gov.-elect Jennifer Carroll, Attorney General-elect Pam Bondi, Chief Financial Officer-elect Jeff Atwater and Agriculture Commissioner-elect Adam Putnam.
Scott, Carroll and his Cabinet members will be sworn in to office within the next two hours.

Rick Scott Takes Time for Prayer Before Swearing In
An ecumenical prayer breakfast was held Tuesday morning at Florida A&M University in Tallahassee as the curtain-raiser to Gov.-elect Rick Scott's swearing-in ceremony later in the day.
The keynote speaker, Chuck Colson --one of the Watergate Seven who later founded Prison Ministries --called for the infusion of virtue and ethics into public and community life. He encouraged the audience to take personal responsibility for their happiness and not rely on government to solve every problem.

Senate President Haridopolos Announces Immigration Meetings
Senate President Mike Haridopolos, R-Merritt Island, signaled his intent Monday for a deliberative process in the development of immigration legislation, announcing a series of meetings that will begin Jan. 10.
Sen. Anitere Flores, who chairs the Senate Judiciary Committee, will lead the meetings, which will frame the debate in the Senate over legislation that deals with immigration during the 2011 legislative session.

DCA Leadership Up in the Air as Scott Administration Takes Over
Monday is the last day of work for Department of Community Affairs Secretary Thomas Pelham, who announced his resignation soon after Gov.-elect Rick Scott won the midterm election. His successor, however, is yet to be determined as Scott is poised to be sworn in Tuesday.

Steele Faces Challengers in RNC Chair Debate Monday
On Monday, Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele will debate four other candidates vying for his seat.
Reince Preibus, the Wisconsin Republican Party chairman, Saul Anuzis, the Michigan Republican Party chairman, Ann Wagner, a former RNC co-chairman, and Maria Cino, a former Bush administration official, will take aim at Steele -- who many in the GOP believe was more of a hindrance than a help to the Party's success in the midterm elections.

Jeb Bush in WSJ: Accountability is Working in Florida Public Schools
In an opinion piece published in the Wall Street Journal Monday, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush says Florida's investment in reform is already paying off. But he isn't suggesting the state stop now; instead, he seems to be trying to build consensus for more reform, which is sure to be hard-fought in this year's legislative session.
In his article, Bush cites two examples of reform measures that were widely opposed, but now have proven effective in improving school performance. He said some fought against giving schools a letter grade, A to F, based on their performance.
