DCA Leadership Up in the Air as Scott Administration Takes Over
Monday is the last day of work for Department of Community Affairs Secretary Thomas Pelham, who announced his resignation soon after Gov.-elect Rick Scott won the midterm election. His successor, however, is yet to be determined as Scott is poised to be sworn in Tuesday.
"We're not aware of anyone being hired," said James Miller, DCA public information officer.
In lieu of a single department head, Miller said the agency has contingincy plans for carrying on the DCA's business without an official leader, but there has been no talk of a new secretary with the Scott transition team.
"We've been in contact with them, but regarding a new secretary I have not heard anything," Miller said.
One of the suggestions submitted by Scott's transition team was to consolidate the DCA with the Department of Transportation and the Department of Environmental Protection.
