Cliff Stearns Set to Go After Obama Administration on Regulations

Look for some fireworks on Wednesday when Florida Republican U.S. Rep. Cliff Stearns calls a session of the subcommittee on Oversight and Investigation, part of the full Energy and Commerce Committee. Stearns, who chairs the subcommittee, will be taking testimony from Office of Management and Budget Director Jacob Lew on the administrations take on regulatory reform.

PSC Mulls FPL Fuel Charges This Week

The Florida Public Service Commission will this week determine the fuel and recovery charges for Florida Power & Light customers for 2011.

PSC commissioners will hear evidence from FPL and the Office of Public Counsel during a hearing that will begin Wednesday and end Friday.

FPL can recover necessary fuel and purchased power costs, but may not earn a profit on fuel purchases.

Rick Scott: Jobs on the Way, and Other Recaps from the Week

In his weekly radio address, disseminated via YouTube, Gov. Rick Scott says he's already making progress on bringing in jobs. This week he welcomed Vision Airlines to Destin and the tens of thousands of tourists to the state each month. He says the new airline will create 4,000 jobs in the state, though he didn't specify how many would be new hires by Vision, and how many would come from the bolstered tourism industry.

Florida TaxWatch Gives Thumb's Up to New DMS Secretary

The leaders of Florida TaxWatch praised Gov. Rick Scott for naming Jack Miles to lead the Department of Management Services (DMS).

Florida taxpayers should be encouraged that Gov. Scott identified and successfully recruited Secretary Miles, a business leader with more than 30 years of cost-cutting contract and procurement experience, said Marshall Criser III, who is the chairman of the groups board of trustees.
