Officer Reeshemah Taylor, an eight-year veteran of the Osceola County Corrections Department, received the 2010 Florida Law Enforcement Officer of the Year Award on Wednesday in Tallahassee.
Gov. Rick Scott, Chief Financial Officer Jeff Atwater and Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam joined Attorney General Pam Bondi in lauding Taylor and the nine other officers nominated for the award.

Q Poll: Rick Scott Favorability and Job Performance Not in Sync
Some may not like Rick Scott, but they can't deny he's doing a good job so far.
A new Quinnipiac poll released today shows a lot of voters, 43 percent, undecided on the governor's job performance during his first 3 1/2 weeks in office. Many, about 45 percent, say they also need more time to decide if they would give him a favorable rating overall.

U.S. Rep. David Rivera signed on to a bill introduced by his fellow Florida Republican U.S. Rep. Vern Buchanan looking to prevent an effort, backed by Cuba, to drill for oil off the coast of Florida.
The Deepwater Horizon oil spill hurt the economy of my state, said Rivera, who is co-sponsoring the measure.It especially affected the tourism and fishing industries that employ so many people in Florida.

Rick Scott Announces State Employee Pension Reforms
On Tuesday, Gov. Rick Scott unveiled his reform plans for state employees, arguing that the changes he is backing will save Floridians almost $3 billion in the next two years. Scott called for state employees to place 5 percent of their salaries into the current pension system and have new employees enroll in retirement plans more similar to those of private-sector employees.
