Mike Huckabee Says He Could Easily Back Jeb Bush in 2012

With a new book coming out on Tuesday and buzz building that he will make a second attempt at the Republican presidential nomination, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee said on Monday that he was still contemplating whether to jump into the fray in 2012.

Huckabee said that he was not waiting for another candidate to emerge, but added that there could be one option he could easily back -- former Gov. Jeb Bush.

If Jeb Bush runs, I would go and help him, insisted Huckabee. I love him and think the world of him.

Greg Evers Retreats, Now Backs Rick Scott Rejecting High-Speed Rail Stimulus Funds

Sen. Greg Evers, R-Baker, wrote Gov. Rick Scott and U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood, withdrawing his name from the letter that he signed along with 25 other senators, asking for more time from the federal government to obtain the funds for a high-speed rail project that Scott had rejected.

Evers, who represents all of Holmes and Washington counties and parts of Bay, Escambia, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa and Walton counties claimed to be revoking my signature from the letter sent to LaHood last week.

Vern Buchanan: 'We cannot spend our way to prosperity'

Florida Republican U.S. Rep. Vern Buchanan weighed in on Sunday on the House passing a resolution cutting $100 billion from the federal budget over the weekend.

"We cannot spend our way to prosperity," said Buchanan, who added they needed to do more. "This is only a small down payment on what must be done to rein in our runaway debt and restore fiscal sanity to Washington.

Florida Congressional Delegation Helps Keep Fed Funds for Radio and TV Marti

A bipartisan coalition in Congress helped beat back proposed amendments to eliminate federal funding of Radio and TV Marti, the stations broadcast to Cuba.

Members of the Florida delegation -- including Republicans U.S. Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart, U.S. Rep. David Rivera and U.S. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, and Democratic colleagues such as U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz -- helped keep the funding in place.

Rivera sent a letter to his fellow freshmen in Congress, urging them to keep backing Radio and TV Marti.

Mike Fasano: State Should Seize Pain Mill Operator Assets

Sen. Mike Fasano, R-New Port Richey, is looking to subject the assets of convicted pain mill operators to the Florida Contraband Forfeiture Act.

If the rules and regulations that Florida has put into place have not scared off pill mill operators, passage of this law will, said Fasano on Monday.Failure to register as a pain clinic will allow law enforcement to impound all assets of the pill mill. Without the building, land and equipment needed to operate, the pill mill operators will shut down and leave the state.
