Ron Paul to Announce on Friday that He Will Run for President in 2012

U.S. Rep. Ron Paul of Texas is hoping the third time is the charm as he prepares to launch his third presidential bid. While he was the Libertarian nominee back in 1988, Paul ran for the Republican presidential nomination in 2008 and has his eye on the GOP nod again for 2012. According to Politico, Paul will announce on Friday during an appearance on "Good Morning America." Paul formed an expoloratory committee back in April.

Tom Rooney Wants Feds to Help Vets Fighting Drug Abuse and PTSD

Florida Republican U.S. Rep. Tom Rooney, a member of the House Armed Services Committee and a veteran of the Army who taught at West Point, went to bat on Thursday for veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and drug abuse by proposing amendments to be tacked onto the National Defense Authorization Act for the 2012 fiscal year.

Mitt Romney Takes Aim at Obama on Health Care

Former Gov. Mitt Romney of Massachusetts, one of the front-runners for the Republican presidential nomination in 2008, looked to downplay his own record on health-care legislation and called for repeal of the federal health-care law backed by President Barack Obama. During Romneys term as governor of the Bay State, he signed a health-care law mandating that state residents have insurance.

A new poll finds Jacksonville, an important bastion of Republican support for statewide races in Florida, likes Mitt Romney but is not so fond of Ron Paul, as the Republican presidential candidates line up.

Mike Hogan Leads Jacksonville Mayoral Race in Poll

A poll from Dixie Strategies taken on behalf of First Coast News found the Jacksonville mayoral race to be close.

Duval County Tax Collector Mike Hogan, a Republican, leads with 49 percent with former Al Gore aide Alvin Brown, a Democrat, taking 43 percent.

More than 50 percent of those surveyed are undecided on who they were backing to replace Hogan as Duval County tax collector, while former Rep. Dick Kravitz took 30 percent and City Councilman Michael Corrigan had the backing of 19 percent. The elections will take place on Tuesday.

Barack Obama Destroying Donald Trump in Two 2012 Polls

More bad news for the Donald.

Two polls released on Wednesday revealed that President Barack Obama was destroying potential Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.

A poll from Ispos found Obama destroying Trump, beating the billionaire businessman turned reality TV star, 57 percent to 30 percent.

The poll of 1,029 voters was taken between May 5-9 and had a margin of error of +/- 3 percent.
