On Monday, three state legislators announced they were backing former U.S. Sen. George LeMieux for the Republican nomination to take on Democratic incumbent U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson in 2012.

On Monday, Republican presidential hopeful former Gov. Buddy Roemer of Louisiana announced that he would be making a tour of colleges across the nation.

Most of the scheduled stops will be held at colleges in New Hampshire where Roemer has focused most of his efforts. He has already scheduled a stop in Florida with an appearance at Florida Southern College in Lakeland on Tuesday, Nov. 1.

It was a bad weekend for Craig Miller. Not only did he finish in last place in a straw poll held in Orlando at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) on Friday, among the four leading Republicans looking to challenge Democratic U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson in 2012, but he got into a minor motorcycle mishap on Sunday.
