On Saturday, in a major upset, businessman Herman Cain won the Presidency 5 straw poll held in Orlando by the Republican Party of Florida. With 37.1 percent, Cain held off Texas Gov. Rick Perry who placed in second with 15.4 percent. Former Gov. Mitt Romney of Massachusetts came in third with 14 percent. Rick Santorum took fourth with 10.9 percent, ahead of Ron Paul with 10.4 percent. Newt Gingrich came in sixth with 8.4 percent. Jon Huntsman came in seventh with 2.3 percent. Michele Bachmann came in eighth place with 1.5 percent.
The teams behind two of the candidates -- Bachmann and Romney -- downplayed the event and did little to organize supporters in the straw poll.
