Florida Parks Having Free Admission on Veterans Day

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection announced on Thursday that every state park, except the Skyway Fishing Pier State Park, will have free admission on Monday in honor of Veterans Day.

Veterans Day offers a wonderful opportunity to spend time with a veteran, said Donald Forgione, the director of the Florida Park Service, I encourage you to invite a veteran to visit a Florida State Park with you. You can then spend the day hiking, bicycling, picnicking, bird watching or a variety of other outdoor activities.

Nancy Pelosi Clearing the Decks for Alex Sink, NRCC Claims

Moments after Jessica Ehrlich pulled out of the special election for the congressional seat opened by the death of former U.S. Rep. Bill Young, Republicans are saying Democrats at the national level are clearing the decks for former state CFO Alex Sink. Ehrlich had been the Democratic candidate who challenged Young in 2012.

Katie Prill, a spokeswoman for the National Republican Campaign Committee, said U.S. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and her allies did not want a primary to hurt Sinks chances.

Rich Nugent: Charlie Crist 'Failed as Governor' and 'Abandoned Our State'

Despite his time as Hernando County sheriff, U.S. Rep. Rich Nugent, R-Fla., generally stays out of state politics. It was a little surprising to see the Republican Party of Florida (RPOF) trot out Nugent on Wednesday to take aim at former Gov. Charlie Crist who launched a gubernatorial bid earlier this week.
