Nate Cohn over at the New York Times looks at Floridas role in the 2016 presidential election and argues that Republicans need to carry the state even as the Hispanic population grows in the Sunshine State.

Florida TaxWatch released a report on Thursday looking at the recently finished legislative session and how it impacted taxpayers across the Sunshine State. While acknowledging there was still work to be done, Florida TaxWatch offered the Legislature some praise.

On Wednesday, the Campaign for Liberty, chaired by former U.S. Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas, announced that a majority of members of the U.S. House -- 218 -- are co-sponsoring the Audit the Fed bill for the third consecutive Congress. Paul had been a longtime advocate of auding the Federal Reserve during his time in Congress and his three bids for the presidency. U.S. Rep. Paul Broun, R-Ga., is the chief sponsor of the bill since Paul left Congress in 2012.

U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., appeared on Your World with Neil Cavuto on FOX News on Wednesday night to weigh in on former Gov. Charlie Crists comments that he left the GOP due to Republicans opposing President Barack Obama due to his race. Despite starting as a major underdog, Rubio caught Crist in the Republican U.S. Senate primary in 2010, forcing the then-governor to leave the GOP and run with no party affiliation. At the end of 2012, Crist made another party switch and joined the Democrats. Crist is now the favorite for his new partys nomination to challenge Gov.

On Wednesday, U.S. Rep. Dennis Ross, R-Fla., backed measures to hold former Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Director Lois Lerner in contempt of Congress and for U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder to name a special counsel to examine why the IRS targeted conservative groups.

On Thursday, Gov. Rick Scott announced that Northrop Grumman will expand its Melbourne facility, creating an additional 1,800 jobs and adding $500 million to the economy.

From his perch as chairman of the U.S. House Financial Services and General Government Appropriations Subcommittee, U.S. Rep. Ander Crenshaw, R-Fla., expressed his support for a special counsel to investigate the IRS targeting conservative groups. Crenshaw also said he backed a bill the House will vote on Thursday holding former IRS director of exempt organizations, Lois Lerner, in contempt of Congress.

Former Gov. Charlie Crist said in an interview with Jorge Ramos on Fusion that he left the GOP to run for the U.S. Senate in 2010 with no party affiliation due to feeling that Republicans were opposing President Barack Obama due to his race. Crist joined the Democrats at the end of 2012 and is his new party's favorite to challenge Gov. Rick Scott in November.

Leslie Doughers bid to be the next chairwoman of the Republican Party of Florida is picking up steam. On Wednesday, Dougher, the current chairwoman of the Clay County GOP, garnered the support of Florida House Speaker Will Weatherford, R-Wesley Chapel.

Former state Rep. Carl Domino hopes he can take down U.S. Rep. Patrick Murphy, D-Fla., by tying him to U.S. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif.

On Wednesday, Domino looked to rally supporters against liberal Patrick Murphy by hanging Pelosi around his neck.
