Neighborhood watchman George Zimmerman has been given 48 hours to return to jail for failing to fully disclose his finances, FOX News is reporting. Zimmerman faces a second-degree murder charge in the Feb. 26 shooting of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin in Sanford.

Gov. Rick Scott has ordered state and national flags lowered to half-staff outside the County Courthouse of Duval County, City Hall of Jacksonville and state Capitol in Tallahassee for U.S. Army Specialist Junot M.L. Cochilus.

Job growth slowed in May as the nations unemployment mark ticked upward to 8.2 percent, according to the U.S. Labor Department. With economists expecting payrolls to jump by 150,000, the monthly numbers placed the growth at 69,000 last month. Economic analysts have said that just to hold the unemployment rate still requires 125,000 new jobs a month. The national unemployment rate had dropped from 8.2 percent to 8.1 percent from March to April.

With the start of the 2012 Atlantic hurricane season today, Attorney General Pam Bondi advised Floridians to make plans forfamilies and businesses, and be forewarned during any declared state of emergency to guard against price-gouging. Weve already seen two tropical storms in advance of hurricane season, and I encourage Floridians to be prepared before a storm hits, Bondi stated in the release.

Gov. Rick Scott will be in Miami to mark the start of the 2012 Atlantic hurricane season. Scott will take part in a hurricane preparedness, disaster-supply-kit event at a Home Depot store, visit the National Hurricane Center, and tour the Southland Mall in Miami --at each promoting the states readiness and the need for Floridians to be prepared for hurricane season.

The Foundation for Floridas Future handed top grades to 17 state legislators for "going above and beyond" in education reform. Making the Foundations 2012 bipartisan Honor Roll are 10 state senators and seven state representatives. In the Senate: JD Alexander, Lizbeth Benacquisto, Anitere Flores, Don Gaetz, Andy Gardiner, Bill Montford, Jeremy Ring, David Simmons, Gary Siplin and John Thrasher. In the House, Michael Bileca, Jeff Brandes, Marti Coley, Richard Corcoran, Erik Fresen, Patrick Julien and Kelli Stargel.

The Florida Supreme Court has disciplined 13 attorneys, with four disbarred and seven suspended, the Florida Bar announced on Thursday. Some attorneys received more than one discipline. Facing one of the most competitive and intriguing Republican legislative primaries in August, former Rep. Aaron Bean, now seeking a state Senate seat to represent parts of Duval and Nassau counties, added to his team on Thursday when Mike Hightower and Nassau County Tax Collector John Drew announced they were backing him.

The private company, SpaceX, successfully landed its Dragon space capsule in the Pacific Ocean after a nine-day mission to the International Space Station. Doing work formally done by NASA and the space shuttle, the capsule berthed with the ISS, delivering cargo and supplies to astronauts conducting experiments in orbit. Last Tuesday, SpaceX launched its Falcon 9 rocket and Dragon Capsule on a maiden voyage to the ISS. Upon reaching the space station, a robotic arm docked the Dragon capsule so supplies to the station could be unloaded.

On Thursday, two more Republicans in the state Legislature endorsed former U.S. Sen. George LeMieux who is running for the GOPs nomination to challenge Democrat incumbent U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson in November. With the backing of Rep. Rich Glorioso, R-Plant City, and Rep. Jimmie Smith, R-Lecanto, LeMieux has now garnered the support of 35 sitting legislators.

Gov. Rick Scott is urging Floridians to back a property tax break for families of those killed in the line of duty. For Floridas law enforcement officers and first responders, any routine traffic stop or emergency call can turn into a dangerous situation that can potentially cost their lives, Scott stated in a release issued while he attended abill-signing ceremony in Tampa.

U.S. Rep. Gus Bilirakis, R-Fla., announced on Thursday that he was endorsing Wilton Simpson for a seat in the Florida Senate. Simpson, a businessman based in Dade City, is running to represent parts of Hernando, Pasco and Sumter counties. I am proud to support Wilton Simpsons bid for the state Senate, said Bilirakis. A group of religious and social conservatives is targeting the Gay Days events at Disney World. As they have in years past, the Florida Family Association (FFA) will be flying planes with banners to warn unsuspecting families about Gay Days on Friday and Saturday.
