Aaron Bean Garners More Support in First Coast Senate Race

Facing one of the most competitive and intriguing Republican legislative primaries in August, former Rep. Aaron Bean, now seeking a state Senate seat to represent parts of Duval and Nassau counties, added to his team on Thursday when Mike Hightower and Nassau County Tax Collector John Drew announced they were backing him.

Hightower, currently a member of the state Republican Executive Committee and formerly head of the Duval County GOP and the Jacksonville Regional Chamber of Commerce (which backed Rep. Mike Weinstein in the primary on Tuesday), praised Beans conservative credentials.

I am a proud member of the Bean team! said Hightower. Aaron is the tough conservative we need to fight for Jacksonville and our surrounding communities.Aaron's proven conservative record from his time in the Florida House as part of the Duval delegation and his ability to immediately have a seat at the table if elected to the Senate make him the best candidate for Senate District 4. Aaron has my full support, and I intend to rally my fellow business leaders to stand with us!

Drew also praised Bean, insisting that the former state representative will do well in representing the First Coast in Tallahassee.

A native of Northeast Florida, Aaron understands how special our communities are and how important it is to preserve what we have right here in Duval and Nassau counties, said Drew. I am confident in Aarons ability to continue the work that has been set before him in holding our government accountable and being the champion for our local treasures in the Florida Senate.

I thank Mike and John for their support of my campaign, said Bean before trying to wrap himself in the mantle of former Gov. Jeb Bush.I understand what it means to be a Jeb Bush conservative here in Jacksonville and I am excited about the new district.I stand ready to roll up my sleeves and get to work on day one, ensuring our district and our state as a whole is a better place to live, work and raise a family.I am passionate about serving this community, and I know that I can be the conservative leader our community needs in Tallahassee.
