A new poll of likely voters shows that its neck and neck in Florida as Barack Obama looks to keep the Sunshine State in his column while Mitt Romney looks to win the biggest swing state on the map. The poll from We Ask America released on Tuesday finds Obama taking 46 percent and Romney right on his heels with 45 percent, while 9 percent remain undecided. The poll of 1,127 likely voters in Florida was taken from July 1-2 and had a margin of error of +/- 2.9 percent.

This week, supporters of Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney have been bashing President Barack Obama for broken promises. U.S. Rep. Connie Mack, the overwhelming favorite to win the Republican nomination to challenge Democrat incumbent U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson, went to bat for Romney on Tuesday, hammering Obama on the economy and the national debt.

On Monday it was reported that Florida will receive $56 million as part of a record-setting $3 billion federal-state settlement by drug maker GlaxoSmithKline to resolve criminal and civil charges that included marketing antidepressants for approved uses. Weinstein announced that he had the backing of Billie Tucker of the First Coast Tea Party. Tucker pointed to Weinsteins record in Tallahassee and said that he worked closely with Gov. Rick Scott.

A poll released by Rasmussen Reports on Monday morning finds that despite the Supreme Court of the United States upholding most of it last week, a majority of Americans continue to wish to repeal the federal health-care law signed by President Barack Obama in 2010.

Gas prices may soon tick under the $3 mark in parts of Florida, but AAA cautions motorists not to get too comfortable with the prices. Decisions to shore up the European Unions two-year financial crisis could put the brakes on the recent downward trend of pump prices. "For many, a feeling of relief comes when $2 replaces $3 on the marquee for a gallon of gas," Jessica Brady, AAA spokeswoman, stated in a release.

A licensed practical nurse at Florida State Hospital in Floridas Panhandle has been charged with one count of abuse of a disabled adult at the Panhandle facility, the attorney generals office announced. Melody A. Melton, of Blountstown in Calhoun County, was arrested on a felony warrant by the attorney generals Medicaid Fraud Control Unit.

In a letter to Acting Secretary of Commerce Rebecca Blank, Florida Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam urges the U.S. Department of Commerce to accept the tomato industrys request to void a failed trade agreement that has allowed cheaper produce to be imported from Mexico. The growers had agreed in 2008 to suspend their 1996 request for relief from unfairly traded imports of fresh tomatoes from Mexico.

Geny Noble Lima, a Palm Beach speech language pathologist, was arrested for allegedly attempting todefraud the Medicaid program out of more than $459,000, the office of Attorney General Pam Bondi announced. Lima, 61, was charged with grand theft and Medicaid fraud, both first-degree felonies.

Gov. Rick Scott has appointed Judge Cristina Miranda of Coral Gables and Judge Rodney Smith of Hialeah to the 11th Judicial Circuit Court. Miranda, 38, has served on the Miami-Dade County Court since 2006.She had served as an assistant state attorney with the 11th Judicial Circuit from 1997. As a county judge, former prosecutor and lifelong member of the Miami community, Judge Miranda is committed to advancing the rule of law in the 11th Circuit, Scott stated in a release. Smith, 37, has served on the Miami-Dade County Court since 2008.

Florida will join other states in opting out of the Medicaid expansion in the Affordable Care Act and won't set up insurance exchanges, Gov. Rick Scott announced Sunday. Scott also declared that if the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare, is not repealed before Jan 1, 2014 -- which most likely would require the GOP to capture the U.S. Senate and White House this November -- Florida would comply with only the required sections of the Act.
