Tea Party Leader Backs Mike Weinstein for First Coast Senate Seat

Facing a competitive Republican primary with former Rep. Aaron Bean for a state Senate seat representing parts of the First Coast, Rep. Mike Weinstein, R-Jacksonville, unveiled the backing of one of the more prominent tea party leaders in Florida on Monday.

Weinstein announced that he had the backing of Billie Tucker of the First Coast Tea Party. Tucker pointed to Weinsteins record in Tallahassee and said that he worked closely with Gov. Rick Scott.

As the co-founder of the First Coast Tea Party, I am proud of the work that we have done with Mike Weinstein and Governor Rick Scott to make sure that the peoples voices are heard in Tallahassee, Tucker said. If our leaders in Washington would follow the lead and listen to the voters like Representative Weinstein and Governor Scott have here in Florida, I could only imagine the national potential our country would have in developing economic development, better jobs and a government that listens to the people not mandates to the people.

I am thankful for the support from Billie Tucker and from tea party members in Senate District 4 and throughout Florida, Weinstein said. I look forward to continuing our work with Governor Scott in the future as we continue to get Florida back to work and ensure that our government lives within its means.
