Justin Sayfie Joins Ballard Partners

Ballard Partners announced on Tuesday that attorney Justin Sayfie, well known across the Sunshine State for his work for former Gov. Jeb Bush and his Sayfie Review and other new media projects, will take over as managing partner of its new Fort Lauderdale office.

Trying to make legal services more accessible in Florida, recommendations released Monday call for a "robust" website outlining local, state and national legal resources that low- and moderate-income residents could access at home or on an increased number of public computers.

The Florida Commission on Access to Civil Justice, created by Supreme Court Chief Justice Jorge Labarga, also called in an interim report for additional people providing pro bono services and to draw leftover money from class-action lawsuits to help fund legal-aid efforts.

While executive director of the Police and Fire Pension Board for 25 years, Keane has been a political musician -- playing politicians and bureaucrats like a violin and beating them like a drum.

Having known Keane for more than 50 years, I was not at all surprised. His tenacity is remarkable and he has a phenomenal memory.

With Venezuela continuing to face instability, four members of the Florida congressional delegation have teamed up in the U.S. House to propose providing exiles some help. Florida Republican U.S. Rep. Carlos Curbelo and Ileana Ros-Lehtinen and Democratic U.S. Reps. Alan Grayson and Debbie Wasserman Schultz unveiled the “Venezuelan Refugee Assistance Act.” Curbelo and Grayson are the chief sponsors of the bill.
