Two Florida Republican congressmen pointed Tuesday to irresponsible federal spending as the reason for their votes against a $19.1 billion disaster-relief package that would help portions of the Panhandle still recovering from last year’s deadly Hurricane Michael.

U.S. Rep. Greg Steube of Sarasota and U.S. Rep. Francis Rooney of Naples said they took principled fiscal stands against the package, which is designed to assist communities in more than 40 states.

Attorney General Ashley Moody’s office is urging the Florida Supreme Court to reverse course on decisions that allowed dozens of convicted murderers to have their death sentences reconsidered.

In case you haven't noticed, voicing opposition no longer is enough for some political opponents. Gaetz was coated with a dairy smoothie delivered by a citizen who is more than a perturbed constituent.

Hurling creamy projectiles at our politicians may become the trendy new version of the op-ed feature. Certainly liberals have the hang of it and their pals in the media get a giggle out of it.

June 4, 2019 - 7:30am

Airbnb is now back in the good graces of the Sunshine State and could be formally removed from Florida’s list of “scrutinized” companies in June.

Airbnb, which lists more 45,000 Florida properties on its website, in November eliminated listings of about 200 properties on the West Bank, a flash point in Israeli-Palestinian relations. The settlements are considered illegal under international law, but Israel disputes that determination.
