Incumbents Fend off Challengers in State House Races

Under federal indictment, state Rep. Reggie Fullwood was one of nine state House incumbents who successfully turned back primary challengers Tuesday.

Fullwood, a Jacksonville Democrat who is facing an October trial on wire-fraud and tax-related charges stemming from the alleged misuse of campaign funds, had about 45.3 percent of the vote to Tracie Davis' 42.5 percent with all precincts reporting in Duval County's House District 13. In the November general election, he will face Republican Mark Griffin, who won the GOP primary for the seat.

Florida Senate Primaries Wrap Up After Nail-Biter Races

Dreams of the Florida Senate were ignited for some candidates and extinguished for others Tuesday. Some state Senate races were predictable, while others came down to the wire, with every vote counting to send candidates towards their next step to the Florida Legislature.

Rubio, Murphy Win Easily

At 8:24 ET Tuesday, CNN called the GOP Senate primary race in favor of Sen. Marco Rubio. The first-term senator, who offered Donald Trump only a tepid embrace, faced off against wealthy tea-party businessman Carlos Beruff. Beruff has been a devoted supporter of Trump from the beginning.

Rick Scott Warns Floridians to Prepare for Five to Ten Inches of Rain from Tropical Storm

The clock is ticking as Floridians prepare for a tropical storm which threatens to dump heavy rains and strong winds on the Big Bend and Gulf Coast areas later this week.

Tropical Depression Nine, which is slowly growing in the Gulf of Mexico, is expected to become a tropical storm later Tuesday and will make landfall on Florida by Thursday. The next named storm on the 2016 Atlantic Hurricane Season list is Hermine.

Nearly 2 Million Florida Voters Cast Ballots in Early Voting

Voting has had a smooth start in the Sunshine State on primary day, and nearly 2 million voters have already cast their ballots in early voting for the August primary election, exceeding the number of voters in the 2012 and 2014 elections.

It seems there is little or no regard for the people living south of Lake Okeechobee.

Some activists, in addition to making us the scapegoat for nearly all of the water problems facing South Florida, have resorted to mocking Glades citizens for being "backwards," living in "homes on wheels," and calling us "those people." Our attempts to speak up for ourselves are ridiculed by our more affluent neighbors on the coast.
