RSLC Goes to Bat for John Couriel in South Florida

The battle for an open Florida House seat is gaining national attention from the Republican Party. 

With state Rep. Erik Fresen, R-Miami, leaving the House due to term limits, the Republican State Leadership Committee (RSLC), which defines itself as the “largest caucus of Republican state leaders in the country and the only national organization whose mission is to elect Republicans to multiple down-ballot, state-level offices,” is going to bat for Republican candidate John Couriel.

Citrus Land Drop-Off Continues Across Florida

Coming off their worst harvest in five decades, citrus growers in Florida have fewer acres to work with, as they struggle to maintain the state's signature crop against an incurable bacterial disease.

The citrus industry lost 4 percent of its grove land, 21,275 acres, over the past year, according to a survey released Monday by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Post-Hurricane Recovery Best Practices Task Force Created

Citizens for Responsible Spending (CRS) Chairman Barney Bishop III today Tuesday the creation of the Post-Hurricane Recovery Best Practices Task Force. 

Tallahassee-based CRS, formed in the summer of 2015 to address city budget issues, will work to identify ways communities can provide the most effective response and recovery efforts following a hurricane. The goal of the task force is to create a model of best practices to ensure a smooth and rapid, coordinated response to the emergency, Bishop said in a press release.
