The View From Canteyville

April 3, 2010 - 6:00pm

CANTEYVILLE, S.C. -- If thy name is Incumbent, you might want to start packing up those D.C. tchotchkes.

November is likely to be a cruel month.

That, at least, is the view from Canteyville, which you wont find on a map. There is no town by this name in South Carolina, though there ought to be. Canteys are as common as front porches in this part of the
country.

April 1, 2010 - 6:00pm

Within a brief walk of the Florida Capitol, the Houses lead negotiator for a Seminole gambling compact can cast aside weighty concerns and thoughts of slot machine exclusivity and bite into a sandwich named after himself, the Galvano Tuscano Eggplant Supreme.

Brown Bailout

April 1, 2010 - 6:00pm

Higher shipping rates could be in store if UPS can push a self-serving package through Congress, says Barney Bishop, president of Associated Industries of Florida.

The legislation would put Federal Express, UPS' chief competitor in the shipping business, under the National Labor Relations Act, ostensibly to level the competitive playing field.
