What did you want to be when you were growing up ?
A dairy farmer.
What do you consider to be your biggest political achievement ?
Sponsoring HB 3 which repeals a provision relating to prohibition against adoption by homosexuals. The bill had a first reading on March 2nd and has a good chance of being adopted.
What was your biggest political faux pas ?
I'll have to get back to you on that one.
Who in state government do you most admire ?
Alex Sink because I think the things she's done in her job are quite remarkable especially overcoming the odds considering she's a woman.
Who in all the world do you most admire ?
Sandra Day O'Connor because she was the first woman on the United States Supreme Court and Sally Ride because she was the first female astronaut.
Who is your favorite lawmaker of the opposite party and why ?
Rep. Ed Homan R-Temple Terrace because of his tenacity. He really has a clear vision of what he wants to accomplish and sticks to his agenda.
What do you remember as being your wackiest constituent request ?
I had a family contact me who was living near an intersate and as a result of that they were getting cracks in their home. A lawsuit was settled in their favor in court and they got a very favorable judgement.
What is your favorite place in the world ?
My home district, I've lived there for 40 years and I've never met a greater group of people.
What is your least favorable household chore ?
Putting up hurricane shutters. It's a strenuous task and you know why their going up.
