Obama Launches Space Task Force

Scientists: Florida's West Coast Should be 'OK' in Oil Spill

Gulf currents could spare Florida's west coast beaches but bring muck and misery to the east coast, and possibly the Everglades, scientists said Tuesday.

"If the oil stays in the loop current, it will exit the Gulf of Mexico into the Florida Strait," said Richard Dodge of Nova Southeastern University.

From there, scientists say it's only a matter of time -- a week or two -- until the oil laps onto beaches in Miami and heads north all the way to Cape Hatteras, N.C.

National Right to Life Backs Rubio

The National Right to Life Political Action Committee endorsed former House Speaker Marco Rubio, the leading Republican candidate, for the U.S. Senate election.

"As Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives, Marco Rubio was a strong advocate for life," said Karen Cross, political director of National Right to Life. "Our endorsement represents Speaker Rubio's unwavering commitment to renewing a culture of life in Florida and throughout the nation."

Gordon Brown may have torpedoed his last chance to be prime minister in his own right when, in the privacy of his limo, he called 66-year-old Gillian Duffy that "bigoted woman."

What had widow Duffy done to deserve the slur?

After taking the Labor Party leader to task for several minutes, Mrs. Duffy raised the immigration issue -- "These Eastern Europeans, where are they all flocking from?"

Political Unknown Scott Fortune Taking on Corrine Brown

Scott Fortune, an attorney based out of Jacksonville Beach, has challenged Congresswoman Corrine Brown in the Democratic primary.

Fortune is a political unknown. How unknown? Despite calling Jacksonville home for over two and a half decades and following its politics very closely, I have never heard of him. Apparently I am not alone. Duval County Democratic Party Chairman Travis Bridges knew the name but did not know much else about Fortune.

With no Democrat in the race, Stanley is Crenshaw's chief opponent in the race.

Connie Mack Blasts Iranian Leader

From his perch on the House Subcommittee on the Western Hemisphere, Republican Congressman Connie Mack may focus more on Latin American issues but he is slowly emerging as a leading voice on other aspects of foreign policy. Case in point, with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad at the U.N. on Monday, Mack blasted the Iranian leader for his intemperate remarks.
