National Right to Life Backs Rubio

The National Right to Life Political Action Committee endorsed former House Speaker Marco Rubio, the leading Republican candidate, for the U.S. Senate election.

"As Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives, Marco Rubio was a strong advocate for life," said Karen Cross, political director of National Right to Life. "Our endorsement represents Speaker Rubio's unwavering commitment to renewing a culture of life in Florida and throughout the nation."

The organizations Hispanic Outreach Director Raimundo Rojas, who is based out of Orlando, blasted Gov. Charlie Crist for running as an independent.

"Charlie Crist has simply joined a long line of politicians who are driven by ego, self-delusion, personal aggrandizement and not by what is best for the people," said Rojas. "In stark contrast, Marco Rubio is a statesman who exemplifies the best of Florida and who will represent all Floridians at every stage of life we all look forward to the day next year when Marco is sworn in as Floridas next United States Senator."

A bill passed by the Legislature last week forcing pregnant women who are considering having abortions in the first trimester to have ultrasounds sits on Crist's desk and he may veto the measure.
