Last Thursday was the 50th anniversary of John F. Kennedy's inaugural speech, and while the anniversary did not go unmentioned, it got less attention than I expected. I suspect that those of us who can remember that snowy day -- why do we schedule our great national outdoor ceremony for a day that is as likely as any to be the coldest of the year?

Florida Jobless Rate Still 12 Percent in December

Floridas unemployment rate remained at 12 percent in December, leaving the Sunshine State with the same unemployment rate it started with at the beginning of 2010, and 2.6 percent above the national jobless rate of 9.4 percent.

Florida Republican U.S. Rep. Vern Buchanan was named a Friend of Agriculture by the Florida Farm Bureau on Friday.
I am honored to receive this award, said Buchanan. Florida agriculture contributes an estimated $100 billion to the states economy. During these difficult economic times, it is imperative that Congress continues to work hard on behalf of those who provide us with a safe and abundant food supply.
