Ron DeSantis has fought his way to the top of the field of Republican gubernatorial candidates, while Gwen Graham has dropped to third among the Democratic field, according to Gravis Marketing's third Florida poll released Tuesday.

Gov. Rick Scott announced late Monday he had signed another 30 bills into law, covering everything from consumer finance and fire safety to pregnancy services and the Florida Slavery Memorial:

SB 146: Appointment of Attorneys for Dependent Children with Special Needs – This bill requires certain court costs be paid by the state when pro bono attorneys represent special needs children in dependency proceedings.

Senate President Joe Negron isn’t known for his wisecracks or snappy comebacks. The Stuart Republican, whose time leading the Senate will end after the November elections, instead has a reputation as a sometimes verbose --- by his own admission --- policy wonk with a methodical and deliberate approach to problem-solving as well as politics.

Two Republican political leaders -- U.S. Congressman Brian Mast and Martin County Sheriff Will Snyder, a former state representative -- will present their views and answer questions about stopping the threat of more school shootings at the annual dinner of the Martin County Taxpayers Association.
