With President Barack Obama in Miami on Monday to raise money for his 2012 campaign, former U.S. Sen. George LeMieux, his eyes on the Republican nomination to take on Democratic U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson, hit the Democrats in a new ad.

George LeMieux: 'I am Proud to be Pro-Life and Pro-Family'

Former U.S. Sen. George LeMieux has been playing up his record on pushing for a balanced budget as he attempts to win the Republican nomination to take on Democratic incumbent U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson in 2012, but this weekend he focused on his record on social issues.

LeMieux was the keynote speaker for the Miami-Dade Family, Faith, and Freedom Luncheon, backed by the Christian Family Coalition, and insisted that social issues would be important in the 2012 election.

Tim Pawlenty Attacks Mitt Romney as GOP Presidential Candidates Ready for Debate

With former Gov. Mitt Romney ahead in the polls in the race for the Republican presidential nomination, former Gov. Tim Pawlenty of Minnesota turned up the heat on the front-runner before the candidates debate on Monday night.

Appearing on Fox News Sunday, Pawlenty hammered Romney for setting the stage for the federal health-care backed by President Barack Obama.

Florida Democrats, salivating over the governors sorry 29 percent approval rate, had a high old time in Hollywood during the weekend, dancing like Ya-Yas around Rick Scotts bones.

Win a second term? They dont think Scott has a prayer.

I'm told the Dems Jefferson-Jackson fund-raising dinner was energized. Everybody was talking about candidates who might challenge Scott. The list included the veteran cast you would expect -- Alex Sink, Jeremy Ring, Rod Smith, Dan Gelber -- plus, of course, the notable inside-outsider, the Ghost of Christmas Past, Charlie Crist.

Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick Addresses Florida Democrats

When it comes to the effort to re-elect President Barack Obama, Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick had a simple message to Florida Democrats at their annual Jefferson-Jackson fundraising dinner Saturday night: Get involved.

Im in for 2012, Patrick told the crowd.

Some are also wondering if Patrick, who has traveled to three swing states in recent months, might be in the race for 2016 in a different role. And his appearance in perhaps the largest swing state in presidential politics served as something of a rehearsal if he were to make that transition.

Maybe Rep. Anthony Weiner was paying attention Wednesday night when former Congressman Mark Foley told his story, because Weiner, 46, disclosed to a friend and former aide that he will enter a treatment program for sexual dysfunction and request a leave of absence from Congress.

At Last, Debbie Wasserman Schultz Calls on Anthony Weiner to Pull Out

Ending a week of silence, Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz issued a statement Saturday calling on New York Democratic Rep. Anthony Weiner to resign.

It is with great disappointment that I call on Representative Anthony Weiner to resign, said Rep. Wasserman Schultz, D-Fla. The behavior he has exhibited is indefensible and Representative Weiners continued service in Congress is untenable.
