Sued by Farm Workers, Should J.D. Alexander Avoid Future Immigration Bills?

An E-Verify supporter who calls state Sen. J.D. Alexander "probably the largest employer of illegal aliens in Florida" is not surprised that the Lake Wales Republican is being sued over his hiring practices.

A company controlled by Alexander -- Blue Head Farms LLC -- has been sued by two farmworkers who allege he violated federal law by replacing U.S. citizens and green card holders with guest workers.

George LeMieux Takes Aim at Bill Nelson on Illegal Immigration

Florida Supreme Court Wants Lawyers to be Civil

New Florida lawyers will have to agree to be more civil when they take the oath of admission to the Florida Bar.

In recent years, concerns have grown about acts of incivility among members of the legal profession, according to an opinion released Monday by the states Supreme Court. Among others, the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) has sought to increase awareness of the importance of civility in the practice of law.

DNA Database Earns Rep. Snyder a John and Reve Walsh Award

State Rep. William Snyder, R-Stuart, received the 2011 John and Reve Walsh Award for his DNA Database legislation, during the Florida Missing Childrens Day ceremony in the Capitol courtyard on Monday.

Its not me, this is for the Florida Legislature and the governor, Snyder said.

The law, approved in 2009 and funded in the recent session, collects DNA samples from all suspects arrested for felonies in the state of Florida. Previously, DNA samples could only be taken at the time of conviction.

Rick Scott Says Proposed Citizens Sinkhole Increase Must be Fair to Company and Consumers

Gov. Rick Scott says any adjustments to the proposed rate hike for Citizens sinkhole insurance must be fair to both insurance providers and customers.

We have to have a financially sound insurance program, we want insurance companies coming to our state, but we got to be fair to our citizens also, Scott said.

2012 GOP Hopeful Fred Karger Running Ad During Tampa Debate

Activist Fred Karger, a veteran of many Republican campaigns, will not be included in the Republican presidential debate being held in Tampa on Monday night -- but he will still be getting his message across. The Karger camp released a statement on Monday with the news that they will be running a commercial during the debate, including in Florida markets.
