Mainstream Media Notice: Florida Government's Debt Declining Rapidly Under Rick Scott

"Since the end of Florida's 2010 budget year, state debt has plummeted from $28.2 billion to $26.2 billion. The debt dropped most precipitously in the last fiscal year -- $1.5 billion -- which was fully under Gov. Rick Scott's watch.

Commissioner of Agriculture Adam Putnam made the announcement at a press conference Wednesday afternoon, saying the milestone exemplified the states devotion to the Second Amendment and other constitutional liberties.

Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi announced Wednesday that she and33 other attorneys general have reached a $42.9 million settlement with Pfizerresolving allegations that the company engaged in unfair anddeceptive trade practices while promoting its drugs Zyvox and Lyrica.Under the settlement, Florida will receive approximately $2.1 million.

Florida Commissioner of Agriculture Adam Putnam announced Wednesday that the number of Floridians holding concealed weapons permits will reach a record high of one million "sometime next week." That's higher than any other state.

Tony Bennett, the Indiana conservative who calls former Gov. Jeb Bush his inspiration, has been voted Florida's next commissioner of education.

The Florida State Board of Education selected Bennett on Wednesday over two other finalists they had interviewed Tuesday in Tampa.

18 Democratic Senators Ask Harry Reid to Delay Obamacare Tax; Bill Nelson Not One of Them

Daily Caller reports on 18 Democratic senators who have petitioned U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to allow the passage of legislation delaying implementation of Obamacare's medical devices tax.

Florida's ostensibly "moderate" Democrat, Bill Nelson, was not one of the signatories.

"Eighteen Democratic U.S. senators and senators-elect sent a letter to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid last week calling for a 'delay in the implementation' of the medical device tax in Obamacare, the Wall Street Journal reports.
