Rubio: Obama 'Poisoned the Well’ on Immigration Reform

U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Miami, in releasing a pseudo-amnesty plan that would give about 11 million people currently living illegally in the country a chance to obtain legal residency, told The Wall Street Journal the proposal is not blanket amnesty or a special pathway to citizenship.

The proposal offered by Rubio -- who has previously spoken in favor of reforming the nations immigration policy as a counter to the DREAM Act -- is designed to help the nation attract skilled workers and maintain its agricultural base.

Contending county election reform must start with leadership, state Rep. Gayle Harrell remains unimpressed by the state audit conducted on the election meltdown in St. Lucie County.

Now, with election supervisors due to testify over in the state Senate on Monday, she intends to seek more specific recommendations when a review of the states 2012 general election is released in a couple of weeks.

President Obama Issues Official Response to Florida's Secession Petition

President Obama's office issued an official response Friday evening to a petition signed by over 37,000 citizens requesting his administration to "peacefully grant [sic] the state of Florida to withdraw from the United States of America and create its own new government."

The response, issued at 7:51 p.m. by Jon Carson, Obama'sdirector of the Office of Public Engagement, is as follows:

U.S. Sen. Jay Rockefeller, D-W.Va., announced Friday that he would not seek a sixth term -- putting an open Senate seat in play in a state that has gone from blue to red in recent years. Republicans are already licking their chops.

While GOP hierarchy believed they had an excellent opportunity in 2012 to retake the U.S. Senate, they came up short. Now they have another chance as the 2014 election cycle looms. They need to pick up six seats to flip the chamber -- but it wont be easy.
