Allison Tant promised her fellow Florida Democrats she would recruit candidates to run against Republicans holding Cabinet office, but with two and a half months to go until qualifying ends, no major opponent has yet taken on Jeff Atwater and Adam Putnam.

Florida Democrats appeared to have the wind at their backs as Amanda Murphy picked up a Florida House seat from Republicans and Rick Kriseman won the St. Petersburg mayors race. But David Jollys upset win over Alex Sink in a special congressional election short-circuited that surge.

Surrogates are increasingly playing prominent roles in the Florida gubernatorial contest. Looking to win members of his new party over to him, former Gov. Charlie Crist had former state Sen. Dan Gelber out front this week, hitting Gov. Rick Scott for cutting education. The Crist team sent out an email from Gelber to supporters on Wednesday trying to rally Democrats against Scott on education.

Carlos Lopez-Cantera has Harsh Words for Charlie Crist

Lt. Gov. Carlos Lopez-Cantera blasted former governor Charlie Crist on Thursday, for his selfishness and for hurting Florida's economy while he was in office.

On Thursday, the Florida Democratic Party accused Gov. Rick Scott of having anti-Hispanic policies, launching a new website against the governor.

Tom Rooney: Investigate Fort Hood Shooting
