It seems the embarrassing joke that was the Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Green New Deal proposal has not dissuaded politicians from coming up with alternative plans that make little sense. Instead of hiding from further notification, they are proudly promoting alternatives that are just as dubious.

Wasting no time after taking the helm of the U.S. House, the Democrats are pushing out a new gun control bill that ostensibly is meant to help make things safer when  citizens want to acquire guns. But it's all nonsense, because at the same time, they're blocking the very measures that would help keep safeguards are in place.

It's a wild contradiction arriving by way of the party that invokes “gun safety” as its primary concern.

In one of the lesser recognized  moves Gov. Ron DeSantis made in an already hectic term was his announcement that the lodging business AirBNB was no longer an approved travel expense for state employees. DeSantis declared that any employees using AirBNB locations on business stays would not be reimbursed.

In a series of press conferences Wednesday, Gov. Ron DeSantis brought forward changes with a specific focus of safety in Florida schools. 

Keeping his rapid pace of changes and policy enforcement since his inaugural going strong, the governor visited a pair of law enforcement departments to announce his plans to raise the safety levels on state campuses.

While crowing about the gains realized in Washington, D.C., and in select state legislatures and capitals, Democrats and left-wing groups seem bothered that Florida bucked that trend by becoming decidedly redder after the midterm elections. This has not apparently quelled the lust for bigger government in the Sunshine State.

It's been a rough couple of weeks in Virginia, as the commonwealth's politicians have been on a weird string of career-threatening one-upsmanship. The consistent and persistent nature of controversy admittedly has been impressive. Following their proposal to legalize infanticide, a string of scandals has rocked the state capital. 

Let’s take a look at that resume, shall we? Lost a major election? Check. Has a serious reliance on racial politics? That’s a check. Under investigation for ethics violations that would shame most people? Check, with a Capital “C”. OK -- looks great -- you're hired, Mr. Gillum. Welcome to CNN.

Andrew Gillum, mayor of Tallahassee, has confirmed it himself. He's struck a deal with CNN to become a regular on-air contributor. The mayor tweeted out his statement of the hiring on Tuesday: "Thrilled to be joining @CNN as a political commentator," was his brevity-laden note.

This weekend the national media managed to embarrass themselves on a wide scale by over-dramatizing the confrontation between an Indian elder and a group of Kentucky high school students in Washington D.C. The episode was blown up to hysterical proportions, and a number of politicians, pundits, and professional harpies joined in. And who joined the fray but former Florida gubernatorial candidate Andrew Gillum.

The reports came swift and sharp and with a notable tone of relief among the media when Gov. Ron DeSantis announced he was rescinding former Gov. Rick Scott's 11th-hour appointments. Many journalists wasted no time praising the DeSantis move as good news. But they expressed shock he would do such a thing without first protecting Scott appointee Andrew Pollack, father of Parkland shooting victim Meadow Pollack.
