With the Islamic State (ISIS) confirming the death in November of their operative Mohammed Emwazi, the English born terrorist labeled “Jihadi John,” U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., a member of the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee and a Republican presidential candidate, weighed in on Tuesday. Rubio noted Emwazi had taken part in the murder of Steven Sotloff, a journalist who was born in and based out of Miami. 

Tsai Ing-wen was elected last week to be Taiwan’s next president. U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., who sits on the U.S. Senate Near East, South Asia, Central Asia and Counterterrorism Subcommittee, congratulated her on Saturday and pointed to Taiwan as a fledgling democracy with much potential :

Today we commemorate International Human Rights Day. It’s an occasion to be thankful for our God-given rights but also to remember that there are millions of people around the world who are denied their most basic human rights every day. 

U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., took to the Senate floor on Tuesday to make the case for major reforms to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Rubio showcased his “VA Accountability Act” which would give the VA secretary more power to fire underperforming and incompetent employees. The bill has been blocked by Senate Democrats. U.S. Rep. Jeff Miller, R-Fla., the chairman of the U.S. House Veterans Affairs Committee, is backing a similar bill in the House. 

In his capacity as a member of the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee, U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., presented this address Wednesday to the John Hay Initiative at the Willard Hotel in Washington, D.C.:
