Rep. Ross Spano, R-Riverview, announced he was backing Republican Party of Florida (RPOF) Vice Chairman Blaise Ingoglia to replace Rep. Rob Schenck, R-Spring Hill, in the Florida House.

The U.S. added 195,000 private-sector jobs in June, according to the newest Bureau of Labor Statistics report on unemployment across the country. June's job numbers were higher than expected, but the percentage of unemployment remained unchanged at 7.6.
The U.S. Department of Labor also revised its job estimates for April and May, adding an additional 70,000 jobs to its previous estimates.

A new report released Friday by Generation Opportunity, a national, nonpartisan youth advocacy organization, revealed the unemployment rate for 18-to-29-year-olds is 16.1 percent -- well above the national average of 7.6 percent.

Former Congressman Allen West, a favorite of the tea party movement despite losing his seat to Patrick Murphy in 2012, weighed in on Wednesday on the Obama administrations decision to delay implementing the employer mandate part of the federal health care law until 2015.
