Francis Rooney, Matt Gaetz Push Resolution on Rising Seas

Two Republicans from Florida--U.S. Rep. Francis Rooney and U.S. Rep. Matt Gaetz--are championing a resolution  “expressing the sense of the House of Representatives that sea level rise and flooding are of urgent concern impacting Florida that require proactive measures for community planning and the states tourism-based economy to adapt.”

Rooney introduced the resolution at the end of last week with Gaetz as the only cosponsor. 

Dan Webster Wants to Extend FMLA to Cover Parents Grieving the Death of a Child

A Republican congressman from Florida is joining the charge to expend leave time for families suffering from the loss of a child. 

At the end of last week, U.S. Rep. Dan Webster joined several members of Congress, including Democrat U.S. Reps. Don Beyer of Virginia, Brad Schneider of Illinois and Tom Suozzi of New York and Republican U.S. Reps. Paul Cook of California and Paul Gosar of Arizona in calling to reform the federal Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA)

Florida’s most influential gun-rights lobbyist says don’t move --- at least for now --- the state’s concealed-weapons licensing program from the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.

But in a thin olive branch to Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried, National Rifle Association lobbyist Marion Hammer in a letter posted online Tuesday also made clear she and the other concealed-carry permit holders in the state --- there were 1.95 million as of Jan. 15 --- will be watching how Fried handles the high-profile program.

Cuomo weighed in on Trump’s tax cuts this week as he tried to spin why New York was short almost $3 billion in revenue.
