Dena Minning Runs for Boyfriend Alan Grayson's Congressional Seat

Dr. Dena Minning is running for the congressional seat currently held by U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson, D-Fla., with whom she has been romantically linked. Minning had been rumored to launch a congressional bid for weeks now, even as liberal activist Susannah Randolph, a former Grayson staffer, entered the race. Grayson is running for the Democratic nomination to replace U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., in 2016.

Two Florida congressmen are running neck and neck in the Democratic primary to replace U.S Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., in 2016, a new poll shows. 

On Monday, Mason-Dixon released a poll which finds U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson, D-Fla., ahead of U.S. Rep. Patrick Murphy, D-Fla., by a whisker in the primary: 33 percent to 32 percent. But a plurality of those surveyed -- 35 percent -- remain undecided.

A new poll shows a wide open Republican primary to replace U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., in 2016. Rubio is running for the Republican presidential nomination and has said he will not seek a second term in the Senate. 

Mason-Dixon released a survey on Monday showing almost half of Florida Republicans -- 45 percent -- remain undecided on who they will back in the Senate primary.

Treasure Coast Environmental Group Slapped with IRS Deceptive Practices Complaint

The former mayor of Pahokee has filed a complaint with the Internal Revenue Service against the litigation arm of perhaps the largest environmental group on Florida's Treasure Coast.

James "J.P." Sasser claims the Stuart-based Rivers Coalition Defense Fund, organized as a 501(c)3 corporation, has violated seven of the nine criteria for maintaining its tax-exempt status. He believes the corporation's officials should answer for what he calls "a deceptive and nontransparent fundraising scheme."

Rejected Medical Pot Applications Likely to Be Challenged

Even before selecting five nurseries to become Florida's first legal pot producers, Department of Health officials will face a challenge from at least one grower whose application was tossed out because it was late.

The department's Office of Compassionate Use staff rejected two of the 30 applications from nurseries hoping to get chosen as one of the five coveted "dispensing organizations." Both were tossed because they were received after a 5 p.m. deadline following a frenzied scene during a torrential downpour July 8 at the agency's headquarters.
