With the 115th Congress convening on Tuesday, two Florida Republicans spent the first day of the new session focusing on Israel. 

U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., teamed up with former presidential primary rival U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, and U.S. Sen. Dean Heller, R-Nev., to bring out the “Jerusalem Embassy and Recognition Act" which would move the American embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. President-elect Donald Trump has expressed his support for moving the embassy to Jerusalem. ‎

Following through on their announcement last month, U.S. Rep. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., teamed up with U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, to introduce a proposed amendment to the U.S. Constitution imposing congressional term limits. 

Even as the state prepares to carry out a constitutional amendment authorizing medical marijuana, a lack of guidance from health officials could create a "very murky and dangerous legal area" for patients and doctors.

Authors of the amendment, industry insiders and legislative leaders have called on the Department of Health to clarify what doctors and dispensing organizations can legally do under existing state laws and the voter-approved amendment that went into effect on Tuesday.

Congress lifted off to a dramatic start on Tuesday rejecting a proposed overhaul of the Office of Congressional Ethics. House Republicans, once confident in making the cuts, backed off of the measure after harsh criticism from President-elect Donald Trump.
