Now starting his fourth term in Congress, U.S. Rep. Dennis Ross, R-Fla., continues to move up the congressional ladder. 

In the opening week of the 115th Congress, U.S. Rep. Ted Yoho, R-Fla., brought out a proposal to make sure members of Congress convicted of felonies while in office are denied their pensions. 

Iraq veteran Esteban Santiago casually strolled through the baggage claim area of the Fort Lauderdale Airport Friday afternoon before spraying bullets on unsuspecting victims, leaving five dead and six others wounded.

Former state Sen. Dwight Bullard, progressive candidate for chair of the Democratic Party of Florida, has won the endorsement of the Democratic Black Caucus of Florida, an organization representing 1.6 million black Democrats in the Sunshine State.

Henry Crespo Sr., president of DBCF, told Bullard he "will be casting his weighted vote" for him, according to a memo Bullard received Sunday. See the memo in the attachment below.

When Florida Democratic leaders meet next weekend to pick a new party chair, a dozen counties will not participate in the vote.

The counties, which are small, rural communities, each lack a formal party organization, known as a local Democratic Executive Committee, disqualifying them from the vote.

UPDATED: In a 5:15 p.m. press conference at Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport, Gov. Rick Scott called the deadly mass shooting at the airport earlier in the day an "evil act," that Florida will not tolerate. "My heart goes out to every family impacted," he said. "We won't rest until we make sure we've done everything in our power to make sure this never again happens here."  

On Thursday, U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., brought back his proposal to help get Puerto Rico’s economy back in the right direction.
