At least one prominent independent politician wont be backing Charlie Crist. New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg will not endorse the now independent governors bid for the U.S. Senate.

Florida Right to Life calls it "the most significant piece of pro-life legislation ever passed in Florida's history."

The American Civil Liberties Union says, "Here we go again. This legislation puts lawmakers in the exam room, during the most fragile point in any womans life, and takes the medical decision away from her and her doctor."

Florida's investigation into bid rigging in municipal bonds widened this week with reports that several of the country's largest banks may have been involved in a nationwide conspiracy.

According to federal indictments, the CDR Financial Products of Beverly Hills, Calif., gave false information to municipalities and fed information to bankers allowing them to win with lower interest rates than they were otherwise willing to pay.

Constitutional changes to class size restrictions and political boundaries passed their final hurdle Wednesday as they were given numbers for the Nov. 2 ballot.

On Wednesday, state election officials added the two proposals to the slate of amendments to greet voters. A proposal to modify the way lawmakers redraw political boundaries became Amendment 7. A proposal to relax class size restrictions that were passed by voters in 2002 will become Amendment 8.

Amendment 7 is the Legislatures response to a pair of amendments by FairDistrictsFlorida.org.

WASHINGTON -- The candidate who on Tuesday won the special election in a Pennsylvania congressional district is right-to-life and pro-gun. He accused his opponent of wanting heavier taxes. He said he would have voted against Barack Obama's health care plan and promised to vote against cap-and-trade legislation, which is a tax increase supposedly somehow related to turning down the planet's thermostat.

Florida has the capacity to create "hundreds of thousands" of new jobs through expanded international trade over the next five to seven years, economists said Wednesday.

A long-favored plan for creating an inland distribution center to maximize cargo taken in by the maritime industry in South Florida is dead, and the sugar company that proposed it is recommending that the Port of Palm Beach start over in its search for a location.

Florida Crystals plan to host the 318-acre South Florida Regional Intermodal Logistics Center in western Palm Beach County has been taken off the table, and the company is offering instead an 850-acre plot elsewhere in the poverty-stricken rural area.

With hearings now scheduled for Solicitor General Elena Kagans nomination to the Supreme Court, Floridas candidates in the U.S. Senate election are weighing in on the matter.

Florida Gov. Charlie Crist, up until last month a Republican, will step into a bastion of Democratic politics this weekend with a speech to the AFL-CIO of Florida as the union umbrella group vets candidates for possible endorsement.

Crist will speak at the AFL-CIO's endorsing convention in Jacksonville on Friday, and union officials will make a decision in a closed-door meeting on Sunday on who will get the union's endorsement in several races, including the United States Senate contest in which Crist is now an unaffiliated candidate.
