Mike Huckabee of Arkansas is playing less of a role in the 2012 election cycle than he did in 2012 in Florida -- where he moved after his bid for the Republican presidential nomination. But Huckabee shows no signs of playing less of a role on the national stage.

Late Wednesday, he announced that he was backing U.S. Rep. John Mica who is facing U.S. Rep. Sandy Adams in the Aug. 14 Republican primary.

Two Democrats are battling in the August primary for an open seat in the Florida House of Representatives representing parts of Alachua and Marion counties and the winner should be headed to Tallahassee since whoever emerges will face a write-in candidate.

Much of the new district is currently represented by Rep. Chuck Chestnut, D-Gainesville, who is stepping down after three terms in the Florida House to run for Alachua County Commission.

Florida Strongly Represented on Team USA and Among World Athletes at Olympics

Florida will be well-represented when athletes from around the world make their way into Olympic Park in London for the opening of the 2012 Summer Games.
