Mitch Daniels Will Not Run in 2012

Count Mitch Daniels out.

According to a page-topping story in Politico Sunday, the Indiana governor wrote to supporters in an e-mail just after midnight that he will not run for president in 2012. He said he made the decision based on lack of support from his family.

Politico said the e-mail, which went out with the word "urgent" in the subject line, said this:

Carol Wehle Cleared of Using Influence to Get Her Boyfriend Hired at SFWMD

State investigators cleared the air for Carol Wehle this week, finding no evidence that she used her executive director position at South Florida Water Management District to help her boyfriend get a $120,000-a-year job there.

In a 33-page report dated May 16, investigators with the Department of Environmental Protection also found for John Williams, the district's inspector general. They said there is no evidence he acted improperly when he hired Bob Howard, Wehle's boyfriend, as engineering auditor. Howard did not use his relationship to win the job, the report said.

IMF Chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn Jailed in New York for Sexual Assault

Dominique Strauss-Kahn, managing director of the International Monetary Fund and considered a leading candidate to be the next president of France, was hauled off an airplane at JFK airport Saturday and arrested for a sexual assault at a New York hotel earlier in the day.

Osama Bin Laden Wanted President Obama Killed, ABC Reports

The more authorities pore through records confiscated during the Navy SEALs' raid on Osama bin Laden's compound, the more we discover what was going on in his obsessed, full-of-hatred-for-Americans mind.

The latest discovery, says ABC News, was that, in his writings, the al-Quaida leader constantly urged his followers to kill President Barack Obama and do everything they could to disrupt the 2012 elections. He couldn't stand to see Obama on television, say analysts, and would change the channel whenever the American president was shown.

Erin Cullaro, Assistant Attorney General, Fired for Moonlighting at 'Foreclosure Mill'

She was reprimanded a year ago for working a second job with Tampa-based Florida Default Law Group, but that apparently didn't stop Erin Cullaro. The assistant attorney general carried on doing notary work for the suspected "foreclosure mill," Gov. Rick Scott's office got wind of it in March and now Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi has terminated her.

Melissa Meeker, Former Charlie Crist Appointee, Named Executive Director of SFWMD

Melissa Meeker was named executive director of the South Florida Water Management District on Thursday, a month after Carole Wehle, the district's previous leader, resigned in a swirl of scandal.

Meeker is a former board member, a Charlie Crist appointee and a contributor to the gubernatorial campaign of Alex Sink. She served on the board between 2007 and 2009, when Crist was heavily involved in deal-making with U.S. Sugar Corp.
