Rick Scott Follows Bob Graham and Craig Miller With Workdays

Less than a week after Republican U.S. Sen. Craig Miller took a page from Bob Grahams old playbook and started a series of workday events, on Monday Gov. Rick Scott announced that he will also work alongside Floridians, visiting their job sites to help them out and learn about their concerns.

Changing Parties and Headed North, Nancy Argenziano Runs for Congress

Former Public Service Commission (PSC) Chairwoman Nancy Argenziano announced on Monday that she intends to run for Congress in 2012.

Argenziano, who served as a Republican in the Florida Legislature, left the PSC in October to support Democratic gubernatorial nominee Alex Sink against eventual winner Republican Rick Scott.

Sen. Mike Fasano Urges Gov. Scott to Oppose Citizens' Sinkhole Rate Increase

Sen. Mike Fasano, R-New Port Richey, sent a letter Monday to Gov. Rick Scott and Chief Financial Officer Jeff Atwater, calling on them to reject a proposed rate increase for state-run Citizens Property Insurance sinkhole coverage premiums.

Citizens currently has a rate request before state regulators that would hike sinkhole premiums across the state 429 percent. In some areas, the increase would be over 2,000 percent.

Hasner Fires Back at LeMieux for 'Tricks He Learned' Under Crist

Looks like former state House Majority Leader Adam Hasner was ready for the attacks from a Republican primary rival in the 2012 U.S. Senate race.

Less than 20 minutes after former U.S. Sen. George LeMieuxs team attacked the former state legislator, Hasners team released an e-mail entitled Here Come the Attacks. The Hasner camp claimed to be garnering momentum with fundraising and endorsements.

On Monday, the team behind former U.S. Sen. George LeMieux, now running in the Republican primary to take on Democratic U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson, came out firing at former state House Majority Leader Adam Hasner, their chief GOP rival. The LeMieux team took exception to Hasners claims that he is a conservative.

GOP Senate Hopeful Craig Miller Launches Vets Outreach

Former Ruth's Chris CEO Craig Miller, who is now running in the Republican primary to take on Democratic U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson, unveiled the endorsement of Col. Joe Kittinger on Monday morning.

Kittinger, a decorated veteran from his time in the U.S. Air Force who was held by North Vietnam after his plane went down, will head up Veterans for Miller. Miller also served in the Vietnam War.

Gov. Rick Scott Orders Special Election for Tony Hill's District 1 Seat

Gov. Rick Scott issued an executive order Friday setting up a special election for state Senate District 1, the seat held by Sen. Tony Hill, D-Jacksonville, until he resigned recently to take a position in the administration of new Jacksonville Mayor Alvin Brown.

The primary will be held on Sept. 20, with the general election taking place Oct. 18. The district includes parts of Duval, St. Johns, Putnam, Flagler and Volusia counties.
