From his questionable role in the AIG bailout to his mishandling of our economic recovery, Secretary Geithner has been a disappointment from the start.

A new poll from Public Policy Polling wont get much press since it was released on Tuesday, the same day as the primaries were held. It shows former House Speaker Marco Rubio, the overwhelming favorite to win the Republican nomination for the U.S. Senate election, leading Gov. Charlie Crist, who is in the race without party affiliation, and both of the leading Democrats in the race. The poll found Rubio taking 40 percent with Crist behind at 32 percent and U.S. Rep. Kendrick Meek at 17 percent.

Democrats are clearly smelling blood in South Florida. The Florida Democratic Party released a video on Tuesday focusing on congressional candidate Rep. While not announcing how much each state will receive, the U.S. Department of Education announced on Tuesday that nine states -- including Florida -- and Washington, D.C., will receive more than $4.3 billion in federal funds in the second round of awarding the Race to the Top grants. Other states that won were Georgia, Hawaii, Massachusetts, Maryland, New York, North Carolina, Ohio and Rhode Island, which join previous winners Tennessee and Delaware from the first round.

Thomas Chalifoux, a candidate for State House District 79, is suing Rep. Mike Horner, R-Kissimmee, over a mailer that said Chalifoux defaulted on a $200,000 mortgage and is being foreclosed on. Records show that Chalifoux held a lien on the aforementioned property and was only notified as an interested party.He was neither the owner nor the debtor. Chalifoux filed a libel suit in the 9th Judicial Circuit Court in Osceola County, stating that Horner used a 527 shadow group to intentionally defame him. Chalifoux is asking for compensatory damages.

Jeremy Bird, the deputy director of Organizing for America, which is closely connected to President Barack Obama, sent out an e-mail to supporters on Monday, urging voters to back Democratic candidates in the Sunshine State.

Mario Diaz-Balart in Congress, he has been at the center of a number of controversies lately --from chargesabout hitting a truck full of his opponents mailings in 2002 to a domestic violence incident, both of which Rivera hotly disputes. One of his opponents for the Republican nomination, attorney Marili Cancio, is hitting Rivera in a television commercial released on Sunday.It may be too late in the campaign to boost Cancio but Rivera has gotten a load of bad press lately.

With a blog piece from political activist Nick Egoroff -- who resigned from the TEA Party earlier in the summer -- claiming that a source from Rick Scotts camp told him that former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee demanded $250,000 to endorse their candidate, the Huckabee camp is firing back.
