Having been the first member of Congress to call for U.S. Treasury Secretary Tim Geithners resignation back in March 2009, U.S. Rep. Connie Mack joined with U.S. House Minority Leader John Boehner in repeating the call. I agree with Leader Boehner that Secretary Geithner should step down, said Mack. From his questionable role in the AIG bailout to his mishandling of our economic recovery, Secretary Geithner has been a disappointment from the start.

A new poll from Public Policy Polling wont get much press since it was released on Tuesday, the same day as the primaries were held. It shows former House Speaker Marco Rubio, the overwhelming favorite to win the Republican nomination for the U.S. Senate election, leading Gov. Charlie Crist, who is in the race without party affiliation, and both of the leading Democrats in the race. The poll found Rubio taking 40 percent with Crist behind at 32 percent and U.S. Rep. Kendrick Meek at 17 percent.

While not announcing how much each state will receive, the U.S. Department of Education announced on Tuesday that nine states -- including Florida -- and Washington, D.C., will receive more than $4.3 billion in federal funds in the second round of awarding the Race to the Top grants. Thomas Chalifoux, a candidate for State House District 79, is suing Rep. Mike Horner, R-Kissimmee, over a mailer that said Chalifoux defaulted on a $200,000 mortgage and is being foreclosed on. Records show that Chalifoux held a lien on the aforementioned property and was only notified as an interested party.He was neither the owner nor the debtor. Chalifoux filed a libel suit in the 9th Judicial Circuit Court in Osceola County, stating that Horner used a 527 shadow group to intentionally defame him. Chalifoux is asking for compensatory damages.
