Bolstered by a federal judge's decision, the League of Women Voters and Rock the Vote say they are back in the business of registering Florida voters. Although both organizations registered voters prior to 2011, the passage of House Bill 1355 established "onerous and impracticable requirements for third-party voter registration," the groups said. Now, after a federal judge preliminarily blocked the law's provision requiring that completed registration forms must be submitted within 48 hours, LWV and Rock the Vote registrars are heading back onto the streets.

Continuing his efforts to woo Hispanic voters away from President Barack Obama, former Gov. Mitt Romney of Massachusetts, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, unveiled his Hispanic Steering Committee on Wednesday which includes a number of prominent Florida Republicans -- including U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio and former Gov. Jeb Bush.

Former U.S. Sen. George LeMieux hit Tallahassee on Wednesday to file his paperwork to qualify to run in the Republican primary to challenge Democrat incumbent U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson.

Gov. Rick Scott defended a review of the state's supervisors of elections Wednesday on the radio. "My whole administration is trying to come up with a way so you know how your dollars are being spent," Scott said during a lively interview with Bill Mick of WMMB 1240 AM in Melbourne.

The result, closely watched by the White House, devastated Democrats and labor unions. Out-of-state conservative and liberal groups alike had poured money into the race, and several big-name politicians -- including Bill Clinton -- stumped in Wisconsin. The one heavy hitter conspicuously absent was Barack Obama.

Florida Republican Party Chairman Lenny Curry thanked "citizen activists" who have embarked on an effort to ensure that the state's voter rolls are free of noncitizens. "While the Obama administration and liberal special interests don't seem to care about the integrity of Florida's voting system, thankfully there are citizen activists throughout our state who do, and we thank them for their support," Curry said in a statement Tuesday.

A gadfly ex-attorney predicted Tuesday that a state investigation could spell "big trouble" for three state Supreme Court justices. Gov. Rick Scott on Monday forwarded state Rep. Scott Plakon's call for an investigation to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. Plakon's request was triggered when Justices Barbara Pariente, Fred Lewis and Peggy Quince received staff help in submitting paperwork to state election officials.

On Tuesday, Florida Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam announced that he was backing U.S. Rep. Connie Mack for the Republican nomination to challenge Democrat incumbent U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson in November.

Former President Bill Clinton is taking aim at U.S. Rep. Allen West, R-Fla., for comments he made that there were at least 80 Democratic members of Congress who are communists. In a speech on Monday night, Clinton bashed the GOP leadership in Congress and on the campaign trail for not slapping West on the wrists for his comment. The Hill has the details.

Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney is looking to cut into President Barack Obamas lead in the polls among Hispanic voters. The Romney camp unveiled a Web video responding to an ad from the Obama campaign looking to reach out to Hispanic voters. The Romney team is also hitting Obamas record on the economy, arguing that Hispanics have been badly hurt by the administrations policies.

President Barack Obama is drawing fire from Crossroads Grassroots Policy Strategies (Crossroads GPS), an organization with ties to many prominent Republicans including Karl Rove. Crossroads GPS is running a new ad slamming Obama on the national debt in a $5.5 million ad campaign being launched in key battleground states, including Florida, on Tuesday. Crossroads GPS is spending $1.7 million to run the ad in the Sunshine State over the next two weeks.

The Florida economy is staggering and Floridians aren't exactly flush with disposable income, but you wouldn't know it from the record-breaking level of slot play in the state. The Florida Current reports that through the first 11 months of the 2011-2012 fiscal year, more than 6,400 slot machines have pulled in $373.6 million, 4.6 percent more than all of last year.
