For a long time, media stories -- including some of the ones in Sunshine State News -- showed progressive Tim Canova, backed by Bernie Sanders, giving U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz fits in the CD 23 primary. Some even predicted he could upset her.
When the dust had cleared, when all the results were in, Democrat and pollster Tom Eldon gave this quote to Politico: “The narrative of David v. Goliath made for great copy. But it wasn’t true, Debbie Wasserman Schultz is that district, and it’s going to take more than a bunch of Russian-hacked emails to beat her.”
