Sunshine State News’ Allison Nielsen will be talking new media at the Florida Association of Professional Lobbyists’ 11th annual conference at the Grand Hyatt in Tampa this week.
Nielsen will be part of a Sept. 11 media panel joining Saint Petersblog’s Peter Schorsch as well as Politico’s Matt Dixon to discuss the history of journalism and how the field has evolved in recent years.
The panel will discuss the media’s former business model, where that model is now and what the future holds for the media. Nielsen brings a fresh perspective in the age where journalism moves sometimes in seconds rather than last-century hours, in part due to an endless stream of social media updates.
The two-day FAPL conference, which is expected to welcome about 90 lobbyists, will cover a wide variety of topics from the state of medical marijuana in Florida to gambling and the Seminole Indian Tribe.
Conference attendees will also get the chance to hear from both the Florida Democratic Party and the Republican Party of Florida about their political plans for 2016 and beyond. Speakers will also talk about the status of medical marijuana in Florida.
Several members of the Capitol Press Corps will talk about the “great questions” for 2016 and beyond.
State lawmakers Sen. Alan Hays, R-Umatilla, and Rep. Matt Caldwell, R-North Fort Myers, will also speak on the future of water conservation in the Sunshine State.
Tickets are $390 for FAPL members and $525 for non-FAPL members.
