Rick Scott may be far ahead of Bill McCollum in most areas, but when it comes to the South Florida Hispanic vote, he's trailing.
While McCollum is spending what little money (by comparison) he has on ads among key demographics, Scott hasn't spent any money on Spanish-speaking television in South Florida.
While Scott spent $75,000 on radio ads with Univision, many Hispanics along calle 8 and in downtown Miami say they've heard little to nothing about the front-runner.
And many of those who have heard of his name don't have a high opinion of him.
"If he is ignoring the Latino people in Florida, that's no good," said Ava Bencomo, a Miami resident. "For example, in this county, Miami-Dade county, the percentage of Latinos is extremely high. To the point where you can see them walking all up and down calle ocho. Here, we Latinos are the majority."
