Despite all the buzz that he would end up on Donald Trump’s shortlist, Rick Scott said he had no interest in being vice president.

Asked Wednesday night if he would accept a bid to become Donald Trump's vice president, Gov. Rick Scott told millions of CNN viewers, "I like my job, I have two years and eight months to go and I'm going to stay in this job."

Asked on what he would do if Trump offered him the vice presidential spot, Scott said, “"I'm going to pass."

Despite saying he would not be Trump’s running mate, Scott promised to go all out to help Trump win in November.

During the four-minute interview with CNN's Erin Burnett, Scott confirmed Trump is his man. "Look, I'll do anything I can to help him," the governor said. "... Voters have a choice. If they like what Washington has been doing, they can vote for Hillary Clinton. If they don't, they can vote for Donald Trump."

Scott also predicted Trump would win Florida and the nation because the billionaire celebrity is selling what the American people are buying. "People want jobs. I won because I created a million jobs in Florida. Donald Trump is talking about the same things."

Scott has been in Trump’s corner for much of the current campaign cycle. Back in January, despite fellow Florida Republicans Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio running for the party’s presidential nomination, Scott penned a piece which appeared in USA Today praising Trump’s economic plans.

A day after Trump scored a big win in the Florida primary which knocked Rubio out of the race, Scott endorsed the Republican frontrunner. In recent weeks, Scott has called on Republicans to unite behind Trump and urged the “Never Trump” forces to stand down. All of this garnered national buzz that Trump could turn to Scott for his running mate, especially as the Republicans need to flip Florida to win the White House.

With Ted Cruz and John Kasich ending their presidential bids this week, Trump is the presumptive Republican nominee.

Scott is not the only major Republican to say he wasn’t interested in being Trump’s running mate this week. South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley took her name out of consideration as well.
