The Florida Retail Federation (FRF) started 2016 with new leadership as Randy Miller, who had been executive vice president, takes over as president and CEO after the retirement of longtime leader Rick McAllister. Besides his new post at FR, Miller will also lead the Georgia Retail Association (GRA) where he also served as executive vice president.

On Monday, Miller promoted two FRF staffers as Melissa Joiner Ramba and Samantha Hunter Padgett were named vice presidents.

“I’m excited to be able to lead a respected and influential organization that advocates for such a diverse membership, and for an industry whose success plays a crucial role in the overall success of our state,” said Miller. “I’m looking forward to continuing the momentum and significant impact FRF made under Rick McAllister and strengthening our organization as the premier voice for retailing in Florida.”

Ramba will be vice president of government affairs  for both FRF and GRA. Padgett was named a vice president and general counsel for FRF.

“Melissa and Samantha are two of the brightest, most hard working and respected professionals in their fields, and these promotions represent the bigger role they will play in the success of FRF for years to come,” said Miller. “Melissa is one of the most respected lobbyists in the state, with a long list of legislative successes on behalf of our members, while Samantha continues to guide our legal affairs while also working in conjunction with Melissa on regulatory and legislative issues that could adversely impact retailers and businesses statewide.”

After 14 years in charge of FRF, McAllister announced his retirement at the end of October. Miller was named as his replacement as president and CEO at that time. The former executive director of Florida Department of Revenue, Miller has been with FRF for more than a decade. -
