Florida Attorney General and pal of President Donald Trump Pam Bondi was back in Washington, D.C. on Friday.
Bondi joined Trump as he signed two bills regarding law enforcement officers into law Friday afternoon.
Named American Law Enforcement Heroes Act of 2017 and the Public Safety Officers Benefits Improvement Act of 2017, the first bill would push police departments to hire military veterans.
"We love our veterans," Trump said, Bondi by his side. "They're serving overseas. They're in harm's way. They've been protecting us. We're going to be helping them right now."
The Public Safety Officers Benefits Improvement Act would change reporting requirements for federal offices giving benefits to injured police officers and the families of officers who died in the line of duty.
Trump said he was "very happy" to be signing the bill into law.
Bondi continues to be a recurring figure in Trump's executive actions. It was rumored she would be getting a job in his administration, but she hasn't made any announcements just yet.
The two-term Attorney General hasn't been totally out of the Trump spotlight since he took office in January.
Trump tapped Bondi for a spot on the White House’s Opioid and Drug Abuse Commission in March, joining former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie on the search for solutions to end opioid abuse nationwide.
One of the biggest undertakings of Bondi’s career as Florida Attorney General has been cracking down on Florida’s pill mills and drug abuse in the Sunshine State.
Under Bondi’s term as Attorney General, the state shut down most of its pain clinics where doctors routinely illegally prescribed oxycodone pills.
Bondi has touted the pill mill crackdown as one of the highlights of her seven year-term as Attorney General.
A job for Bondi in Trump's administration still hasn't been formally announced.
