Obama's Economic Hole Deepens, RNC Debt Clock Ticks

August 27, 2012 - 6:00pm

Florida delegates were advised during breakfast to keep watch on the giant debt clock unveiled for the Republican National Convention Monday at the Tampa Bay Times Forum.

Republican Party of Florida Chairman Lenny Curry said Tuesday that the clock should be viewed as one of the strongest issues -- a sign of the economy -- to press against President Obama in the presidential campaign.

If this country goes into bankruptcy, it will cease to exist as a country, Curry said during the Fresh From Florida breakfast at Innisbrook Resort and Spa in Palm Harbor.

The clock was unveiled also to be a focal point to keep the nations $16 trillion debt and other economic issues from remaining paramount. The GOP expects Obama and the media to continue to mount a diversion on abortion, diversity and even Romneys private-equity career.

This clock reminds every delegate and every American why we are here in Tampa -- because America can and must do better, Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus said at the unveiling.

Every Americans share of the national debt has increased by approximately $16,000 during the current administration.
